Summer Skin Care Dos & Donai??i??ts
Jun 11, 2017

Summer is here and we are gearing up for our vacations and outdoor activities. Our love to enjoy time outdoors will get our skin into a little bit of trouble if you don’t take proper care for your skin. In summer, the sun, heat, humidity and other environmental factors take their toll on skin.

The key to healthy skin lies beyond which soap you use. It depends on what you eat, whether you exercise, how much stress you are under and even the kind of environment in which you live and work. Your skin type and the products you use also determine the beauty and glow of your skin. You need to know your skin type and use the product specific for type of skin to get the glowing and refreshing skin.

Enjoying time outdoors do follow some of these guidelines in dos and don’ts for your summer skin care.

Do drink plenty of water. Your skin is the very last organ to receive nutrients and nourishment from water. Meaning that in stressful situations and during these summer months especially, you have to drink even more water than you normally would! Water is essential for a healthy complexion as water flushes out the toxins in your body.

Do Moisturize. Moisturizer is one of the most important beauty products. Moisturizing your skin will combat multiple skin concerns. Nourish your skin with nutrient packed moisturizer. Do use overnight moisturizer to consistently stay hydrated as skin cell regeneration is faster overnight. Rather than using a bunch of products, find a multitasking product that takes care of your needs in one go. Look for one containing vitamin c and potent anti-aging agents like retinoic acid and niacinamide.

Do exfoliate once a week is a must to remove old dead skin cells and to make room for new cell generation. Do exfoliate with natural fruit enzymes. Fruits acids from pumpkin, papaya and pineapple dissolve dead skin cells gently but effectively. Using an exfoliation scrub gently once or twice a week can help to keep your skin glowing. Be cautious with exfoliation though, too much can make your skin over sensitive and irritated quickly.

DoGet a facial. A facial massage can help relieve stress, improve elasticity and provide a healthy glow.Instead of trying a DIY facial treatment let the experts give you the advice and treatment. Make sure you do your research before selecting a spa for your facial. Allowing someone to work on your skin can be a frightening thought but if you find a well recommended spa you should be fear free.

Do Eat healthy. Natural juices are full of vitamins, anti-oxidants and nutrients that help increase blood flow as well as total cell turnover and regeneration making for the healthiest complexion!

Do Use SPF protection. Use broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. SPF should be worn daily on all skin types even in the winter. SPF will fight the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays on your skin. You can mix an SPF with your daily moisturizer or find a moisturizer with SPF already in it. Do apply self tanner.

Do exercise regularly. Running, jogging and yoga will give your body necessary blood circulation and also accelerate the cleansing process of your entire body.

Donai??i??t take too many showers and hot showers. Yes, its summer and you have work up a sweat but taking multiple showers can have drying effect on epidermis. Hot showers can be dehydrating to skin in general, but if youai??i??ve spent hours in the sun, the effects can be worse.

Donai??i??t go overboard with rich moisturizers. Well moisturizing can keep your summer skin supple but thick doesnai??i??t necessarily mean better. Heavy creams can create barrier on the surface of your skin and keep your skin from absorbing the moisture. And donai??i??t apply too many face products at once. Using too many skin care products can irritate skin.

Donai??i??t go overboard with your skin care routine. Keeping it as simple as possible will ensure a healthy complexion. Find one routine that works best for your skin type and stick to that for as long as possible! This will help to keep your skin balanced and happy.

Donai??i??t drink too much coffee. One cup of coffee a day can be beneficial but too many can be dehydrating on the skin. Our skin needs all the water and hydration it can get, especially in the heat of summer so try to limit your coffee intake as much as physically possible for your lifestyle.

Donai??i??t over massage or touch your face too much. The more that you touch your face the more problems that will arise. A facial massage can help relieve stress but stimulating the skin too much can also irritate sensitive skin and worsen acne, psoriasis or eczema. When you touch your face with unclean hands you are pulling bacteria from your dirty hands to your face and causing more fuel for the blemishes. Keep your hands off your face at all costs and do not pick or pop any blemishes!

Donai??i??t skip on sunscreen even if itai??i??s cloudy or cold outside. If youai??i??re heading to a beach or around reflective surfaces like snow or ice, lather your skin up with some more sunscreen with SPF of at least 30.
